Hillside Residence Rebuild

Following the complete loss of their home in a devastating fire in 2022, this growing family approached the rebuild as an opportunity to create a home thoughtfully shaped around the way they live. The design incorporates fire-conscious strategies while maintaining a strong connection to the hillside setting. A modern exterior combines clean stucco forms with stone and metal accents, while fire-conscious landscaping, a pool, and expansive outdoor entertaining spaces extend the home into the landscape. A mother-in-law suite provides additional space for extended family, supporting the home as a place for both everyday life and larger gatherings.

Inside, the design was guided by the family's routines, traditions, and the small details that make a house feel like their own. Spaces were carefully arranged to simplify daily routines for their children, while custom features—including a dedicated Christmas tree closet, a bookshelf designed to grow with their collection of travel memories, and a European outlet specifically for their family's Belgian waffle-making tradition—give the home a deeply personal character. Vaulted ceilings, thoughtfully selected finishes and appliances, and a series of unique built-in moments throughout the home create a residence that is both highly functional and distinctly theirs.
